Breaking the Glass Ceiling- Celebrating 70 Years of Women in Air Force Blue
In 1941, the first group of women entered service in support of the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) during World War Two. Since then, thousands of women have served in an ever increasing variety of roles, changing the existing boundaries of opportunities within the Service.
Often reflecting dynamic changes in wider society over time in the armed forces, women continue to push through a perceived ‘glass ceiling’ imposed by contemporary social attitudes limiting what they could achieve. This exhibition tells these changing stories of women in the RNZAF in war and peace up to the present day.
This exhibition is currently showing, is free and is open during Museum hours.
