RNZAF turns 75
Military aircraft will be on show across New Zealand during the RNZAF’s 75th birthday celebrations. The skies will be alive as international Air Forces combine with RNZAF airpower to perform demonstrations and displays set to delight.
GEON Art Deco Weekend (16-19 February) is using the RNZAF as its theme this year and the RNZAF will be there in full force with a Red Checkers aerobatic display, ground displays, promotional activities, a recruitment stand and performances by the RNZAF Band.
March sees the release of a commemorative stamp and coin issue by NZ Post that tells a comprehensive story of the RNZAF’s past, present and future along with the publication of a new book that traces the history of the RNZAF, titled Fighting Spirit: 75 years of the RNZAF by Margaret McClure.
And don’t miss the Air Force Air Show on Saturday March 31, the RNZAF’s big event at Base Ohakea, between Sanson and Bulls. This is the air show that will bring together the RNZAF’s proud history and future capabilities alongside civilian aircraft. It’s here that you will see military aircraft from around the world in one spectacular event on show for the public.
It promises to be a fun-filled day of military might with something for everyone. Visit www.eventfinder.co.nz and search ‘Air Force Air Show’ to purchase tickets.
RNZAF aircraft will also be at Warbirds over Wanaka during Easter. The RNZAF will showcase its Historic Flight aircraft as well as their current fleet of aircraft including its new helicopter fleet and upgraded transport and surveillance aircraft.
