Stories from the storerooms
Museums hold a diverse range of objects in their collections and the Air Force Museum of New Zealand is no exception.
Most visitors to the Museum are familiar with the aircraft and other large objects on display. Few may be aware, however, that these large objects represent only a tiny percentage of the Museum’s total collection. Safely housed in the storerooms are many hundreds of thousands of other items which are equally significant to the history of New Zealand military aviation.
This exhibition contains a small sample of the wide range of objects held at the Air Force Museum of New Zealand. Each one has been personally selected by a staff member or volunteer for their own unique reasons.
Join the Museum team as they share their recollections of some of the Museum’s more intriguing objects, and discover the fascinating stories revealed by them.
ReCollections is open 10am till 5pm from 24th August 2012 until April 2013 and is free admission.
