ALERT: Expect big cat sightings all over Christchurch this weekend.
We’re hosting the 15th Jaguar National Rally over Easter, and our grounds will be purring with 160 big cats over the weekend. On Saturday the public is welcome to come and have a look while the concours judges select the smartest cat of them all.
As you can see two strays have arrived already, and even though they’re beautiful, we think our Bristol Freighter is still the prettiest thing ever to come out of Britain.

Can't beat a Bristol Freighter, especially on character!
I see you're prepared for the British oil leaks.
John and Brett Christiansen dropped into our museum today on their way to Warbirds Over Wanaka to pay their respects to John H (Jack) Christiansen, their uncle and great uncle respectively.
Jack Christiansen was a Lancaster pilot posted to No. 115 Squadron based at RAF Witchford in Cambridgeshire when he was sent on a 498-aircraft raid to Hannover on 14 January 1944.
He and the rest of his crew died when their Lancaster was brought down over Gittelde, 87 km from Hannover. Jack was aged just 25 when he died, it was his 20th operation.
Jack Christiansen is one of the more than 4,600 names on our Roll of Honour, we remember his sacrifice 80 years on.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them. ... See MoreSee Less

RIP.Lest we forget.
On your way to Warbirds Over Wanaka and wondering what it is like to sit in the cockpit of a de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito for a mission? Wonder no more. Come fly our Mosquito Mission flight simulator and choose between flying the Amiens Prison raid mission of 1944, or go searching for enemy battleships in the Norwegian fiords. And the Air Force Museum of New Zealand in Christchurch makes a perfect coffee and military aviation history stop on the way to Wanaka. We are open from 9.30am until 4.30pm each day over Easter.

I’m really bad at both missions. I took a white flag for my second attempt

They came, they saw, and they conquered the history and the theory of flight!
And they were awesome visitors to our museum.
They are the Year 9s from St Bedes, and our team had a great day showing them around and passing on some flight knowledge.
Of course there will be a test when they get back to the classroom - good luck boys.
Please call again!
