COVID-19 (NOVEL CORONAVIRUS) // MUSEUM REOPENING 2 JUNE - online shop open NOW

UPDATE 29 May 2020:

The Museum will reopen under Alert Level 2 at 10am on Tuesday 2 June.

We can’t wait to welcome you back to our space, but it may look and feel a little different for a while. We’ve worked hard over the past couple of weeks to put in place some necessary measures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our staff and visitors.

These include:

  • Contact tracing - we are using the CHECKIN-19 QR code system as the preferred way to process this, although we will have a manual form as well.
  • Increased signage around hygiene and social distancing.
  • Hand sanitiser stations around the Museum.
  • A heightened cleaning regime, with particular attention being paid to surfaces such as handrails.
  • Slightly reduced opening hours for a while - 10am-4pm daily.

Given the high touch nature of many of our exhibits, our interactives won’t be available for the time being. This means that you’ll just need to wait a little longer to get back into the Mosquito Mission simulator, Vampire and Macchi cockpits, Hercules cabin, etc. The kids’ corner and ‘Captured’ exhibition will also be temporarily closed, but you can still have a go at the touch-free 'Balloon Busters' challenge.

In addition, please note that the following programmes and services remain suspended until further notice:

For further guidance on Alert Level 2, please refer to the official New Zealand Government COVID-19 website.
